What Inspired the Book

Gail McGuires writing journey began with her debut memoir, Raised on Freedom: Favored Tales of a Boomer Kid, a heartfelt collection of childhood stories inspired by years of sharing memories with her children and grandchildren. Encouraged by family, friends, and colleagues who admired her gift for storytelling, McGuire turned to writing full-time after retirement and quickly discovered a passion that would lead her into the world of fiction.

Her first novel, What If I Told You, set in 1970s Idaho, captured the spirit of an era shaped by feminism, cultural upheaval, and personal transformation. Remember What I Told You, the sequel continues that exploration blending the emotional truth of lived experience with supernatural intrigue.

The idea behind the series was born from a deeply personal what if moment in McGuires own life. As a single mother who worked tirelessly to build a career in the late 1970s, she reflected on how her path might have differed if she had started life with greater stability. That question: What if I could live the life I might have had? became the seed for her Supernatural Suspense Series.

Through these novels, McGuire examines the intersection of fate, choice, and alternate realities, inviting readers to consider how even the smallest changes in circumstance can alter the course of a life. Blurring the lines between reality and imagination, she transforms a personal reflection into a riveting exploration of human resilience, second chances, and the mysterious forces that shape our destinies.
