America’s Best In Medicine Spotlights Kayley Lewis, BSN, RN, Acute Care Nurse At Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center

Muskogee, Oklahoma Mar 24, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Kayley Lewis, BSN, RN, is a dedicated and accomplished nursing professional currently serving at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center, where she provides exceptional, patient-centered care to veterans and their families. A graduate of Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Kayley combines clinical expertise with genuine compassion, ensuring the highest standards of care in every patient interaction.

Her commitment to excellence has earned her multiple prestigious recognitions. In 2024, Kayley was honored with the DAISY Award, a nationally recognized accolade celebrating extraordinary nurses who deliver compassionate and skillful care. That same year, she was named one of the Great 100 Nurses in Oklahoma, highlighting her significant contributions to the profession and her impact on patient outcomes. Additionally, Kayley received a Challenge Coin from the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, a distinguished honor recognizing her exceptional service and dedication to the veteran community.

Prior to her current role in patient care and as a charge nurse for her unit, Kayley began her nursing career in clinical practice as a Labor and Delivery and Postpartum nurse, where she also pursued her Doula certification to better serve the pregnant population of patients she cared for. Kayley also expanded her impact through both education and clinical care. She served as a Childbirth Educator with Saint Francis Healthcare Systems, where she supported and guided families through the childbirth experience. She also worked as a Nursing Instructor at Connors State College, mentoring and preparing future nurses for the demands of the healthcare field. These roles reflect her passion for education, leadership, and the advancement of nursing practice.

Though she has made it clear that her primary love and passion in nursing is the direct patient care she provides, Kayley also feels strongly about patient advocacy, fighting for more of an emphasis on staff well-being and mental health, and implementing Evidence-Based practice in her facility. She currently serves as the co-chair for the Evidence-Based Practice Committee for her facility, seeking current research and recommendations to ensure safe patient care and improve patient outcomes within the veteran population. The proud daughter of a Vietnam Army Veteran, the late Dale Lewis, Kayley strives to bring honor and reverence to both her profession and her patients by serving our nations heroes each shift with a grateful heart and compassionate outlook.

Known for her professionalism, empathy, and unwavering dedication, Kayley approaches her work with a deep sense of purpose. Whether caring for patients at the bedside or guiding students in the classroom, she is committed to fostering trust, improving outcomes, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Through her continued service, Kayley Lewis exemplifies the values of compassion, integrity, and excellence in nursing.
